MULTIMEDIA & ANIMATION
(Reaction Paper)
“Filipino artists are great. Our stories are worth telling.”
This is a quotation from one of the speakers during the “Digital Futures” seminar in Far Eastern University last Saturday, 6th of November which really marked to me and caught my attention because of another knowledge in different field and profession that really shows how we should be proud of being Filipino. The seminar included the transliteracy and American studies of the Philippines.
With the three speakers I’d heard, all of them we’re really professional in the field of multimedia and animation. The first speaker which is Mr. Joel Chua who discussed the Digital Arts and Multimedia Design emphasize how the multimedia boost learning and engagement to the users through the three senses such as sight, sound and most especially the interaction.

While according to the second speaker which is Ms. Ayeen Pineda who talked about that Animation is an alternative learning tool showed that the generation today has changed rapidly over the past few years and we should adjust the teaching method accordingly. Her talk was really good and real because we admitted that nowadays, the teaching method shall be changed to be updated with the new and high technologies that we have.
And for the last speaker named Ms. Grace Dimaranan who tackled about the American influences on local animation industry, she has a lot of experiences in the field of animation. She told us how to be versatile in terms of using our skills and talents like what she did since she was 19. She proved that we Filipinos are very intelligent in animation which other countries don’t have. All the things that she said were really inspiring to all of the audience their during the seminar because of what she has now. Although her topic includes history, she assured that it will not be bore for us to listen with her.
Being part of that seminar was a great experience for me and knowing some knowledge about the field of animation and multimedia is a really great learning as a Mass Communication student because we now that there will be possibilities that some of us will work in this field. Over all, Digital Futures seminar is a really great help for us students and some teachers to know something new and useful thing on that day.
